Telling Our Stories: An Active Listening Dialogue w/ Clergy

Info: Many LGBT people have had unpleasant experiences with religious institutions leading to a sense of disillusionment with organized religion. Or maybe your experience was very supportive. As part of Pride month, supportive clergy want to listen to your stories and bring a spirit of comfort, reconciliation and pride to you. Come join clergy from various religious backgrounds in this program presented by The LOFT, SAFE: Spirit And Faith for Everyone and the Lower Hudson Valley Pride In The Pulpit. Info: TRUST is a safe place for LGBTQ teenagers and their allies to talk, listen and learn about being different and being the same. Facilitated by two social workers, TRUST is not a therapy group, but rather a structured setting to discuss teen issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Info: Triangles is a safe-space for 18-22 year-old LGBTQ young adults and allies to come, hang-out, and chat. It's a place to talk about whatever issues are going in your life, in a safe, non- judgmental environment. We meet every Wednesday at the Haverstraw Community Center. Activities include game nights, creative arts, speakers on LGBTQ health and social issues, and opportunities to meet and get to know new friends.



PFLAG Meeting (Parents and Friends of Lesbians & Gays)

Info: This meeting is appropriate for those who have a relative or friend who is LGBT, and wish to meet with others in similar circumstances for support, information and friendship. Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) is a national non-profit organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and over 500 affiliates in the United States. This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced and serviced by the PFLAG national office, located in Washington, D.C., the national Board of Directors and 13 Regional Directors.




LGBT Pot Luck - Parent Support Group

Info: The Rockland Parent-Child Center offers a monthly pot luck and support group, at various locations, for LGBT parents. RPCC is a family support center that offers a range of services, including infant and toddler playgroups, parent support groups, educational workshops and support for incarcerated parents. The center, located in Nyack, NY, provides a welcoming neighborhood nexus for children and parents alike.
